Horticultural-grade BioChar charcoal (1/2–3/4 in) for soil amendment and springtail culture medium. Promotes drainage and aids in odor control in horticultural mixes and vivarium substrates.

Recommended uses:

  1. Soil amendment for horticultural mixes and vivarium substrates — promotes drainage and aids in odor control

Springtail culture setup:

  1. Evenly rinse charcoal over a sink, gently shaking and turning so all dust is removed from all pieces (easily done in a strainer)
  2. Douse with RO water and let drain
  3. Transfer charcoal to a large bin/tub (master culture) or smaller container (feeder culture or culture to sell)
  4. Transfer springtails from an old culture using the method of your choice
  5. Fill your container 1/3 with RO water (water may already be present if you used another master culture to seed)
  6. Sprinkle Spring-Load Springtail food on top of culture, wait 3–5 days and repeat

Best for: vivarium substrate mixes, springtail cultures, and any bioactive build needing drainage and odor control.
